A political scientist Dr Amoako Baah has counseled suspended New Patriotic Party (NPP) founder member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe to “keep quiet”.

The Greater Accra Regional branch of the NPP has indefinitely suspended Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe for undermining the peace and unity of the party.

The decision to suspend him, which was conveyed by the regional chairman for the party, Mr Ishmael Ashittey, followed a petition brought before the party by a member in the Ayawaso constituency.

The petitioner, Stephen Asante, accused Dr Tamakloe of conducting himself in a way that undermined the peace and unity of the party.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe has resorted to the media to defend himself and has also taken a swipe at some party officials.

Speaking on the issue, Dr Baah feels Nyaho’s approach was wrong and must wait until he appears before the probing committee.

“If you have been suspended, especially for a senior member like that, he should keep quiet and have his day before the committee that is going to investigate him. But to keep asking what about this and that in itself is not good,” Dr Baah told Starr News’ Kweku Obeng Adjei.

He added: “You can have a situation that so many people are breaking the law, but when the police catches you, you can’t say you can’t catch me because others are doing it too.

“You don’t necessarily have to agree with Nana or whoever, but it is the way you go about it. When your party is in trouble and trying to bring peace in it, and you stand outside and keep leveling allegations against key members you are making the situation worse… but you pay a price if you don’t say it well. No organisation can survive without discipline in its membership.”

“He should just keep quiet. He’ll have his day before them. After all, he is not in office in any capacity in the party hierarchy so how does that affect him, and that is why I am even surprised that he will even respond the way he has,” Dr Baah opined.
