Sir John is NPP’s real enemy – Davies Opoku

A member of the Communications Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Davis Opoku, asserts the national executives have performed abysmally in resolving the perceived factionalism in the party. He believes other national executive members of the party are fanning the flames of factionalism in the party.

Speaking on Okay FM, Davis Opoku, who is also the Director of Operations for the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), averred that grassroot members of the party are fed up with the issue of factionalism, and demonstrated their dislike for it in the voting pattern recorded during the party’s Regional Executive polls.

According to him, the NPP faithful are more interested in winning political power than in whether one belongs to Alan Kyerematen, Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Konadu Apraku.

Opoku Davis stressed that the National Executives must admit that the party has lost two elections and turn their attention to choosing competent people to run its affairs, as against those who are simply allies and a liability to the success of the party.

Without mincing words, he asserted that the fanning of the factionalism is internally generated to create the impression that the party is divided among certain bigwigs in the party. To him, the downfall of NPP is on the heads of some National Executives, citing Sir John as the chief offender, deepening the wounds of the party with his actions and utterances.

“…..those who want the downfall of the party are those fanning this factionalism…..more especially the National Executives who are managing the party do not want the party to progress because instead of trying to resolve the perceived factionalism, they are rather fueling the problem; they are real enemies of the party. For instance, I don’t understand why a whole chief scribe, General Secretary could come out openly and declare his support for a candidate in the Regional elections as against others? How can a referee officiate a football match and declare his favorite team in the match?” he quizzed.

He called on all members of the party to come out to condemn the actions of some of the National Executives, urging them to come together as a united front to fight for political power in 2016.
