'Sir John’s death a big blow to NPP' – Hackman Owusu Agyeman

Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, says the late General Secretary for the party served wholeheartedly.

CEO of the Forestry Commission and former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, passed on Wednesday night.

Sir John reportedly died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday evening.

In an interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Host Ekourba Gyasi, Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyeman said Sir John was a good man and that the party will forever miss him.

According to the NPP Kingpin, Sir John, during his tenure as General Secretary of the NPP worked tirelessly with all humility and ensured that all the activities of the party goes on as planned without hitches.

“When I heard the death of Sir John, it was very difficult to believe, I placed calls to confirm because I didn’t believe it. I called a lot of people before I realized that Sir John was indeed dead. Sir John was a good man, respectful and he really worked for the NPP. Very few will do the work Sir John did for the Party. I pray that Sir John gets a good place in the bosom of the Lord. We have lost as an asset”, Hackman Owusu Agyeman said.

Asked if he had a personal relationship with the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, Hackman Owusu Agyeman said Sir John was one of the NPP youth who had a strong passion for party business from the onset.

Meanwhile, President of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not forget the instrumental role, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka Sir John played in the Party.

He added that Sir John is unforgettable and that the NPP and the Akufo-Addo led government owe him an immense debt for his work and commitment.
