Sir John to Prez Mahama: We’ll not wait till 2016…

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has described President Mahama’s assurance to introduce new measures to fight corruption as bogus.

President Mahama on Tuesday announced that “in the next few weeks we will announce new measures to tighten the system to ensure more transparency and make corruption more difficult to undertake.” He further added that “for those who disagree with me and are anxious to see my back, not to worry, 2016 is not too far away. I will urge them to be patient. In this difficult job, the least one expects is loyalty and comradeship”

But according to Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Ghanaians will never cease from criticizing him (Mahama) for his inability to fight the canker. He further lamented that, President Mahama is not availing himself to the opportunities that was created by Ex-President Kufuor to fight corruption since he himself is corrupt.

Speaking to Asempa FM, the NPP General Secretary, popularly known as Sir John, who described President Mahama’s reply to his critics as unfortunate, wondered at the high level of unbearable hardship under his leadership.

“Why is President John Mahama disturbing us...we are suffering. If someone criticizes you too, then you will heap insults on that person. We will not wait till 2016 before we criticize you. You are corrupt, and we will tell you today, we will continue till 2016…we will never stop.

“…If the load is too heavy for him (President Mahama) he should put it down. We can’t wait till 2016,” he stressed.
