The Our Lady of Mercy Babies home, popularly called Sirigu Babies Home at Sirigu in the Kaasena-Nankana West District, Upper East Region has made a passionate appeal to societies, organisations and philanthropists to help the orphanage rehabilitate its baby and learning centre for the development of the children.
“Apart from rooms that accommodate the babies, there is no day room to encourage child exploration and development.
“We are appealing to all to come and help us rehabilitate the centre, to provide a good place for the children to live”.
Reverend Sr. Beatrice Tengzaa, the Administrator of the orphanage, made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sirigu, to make known the needs of the children.
“Currently the walls of the centre have developed cracks, most fittings have been removed and because the roof has no ceiling, it is hot, considering the high temperature here”.
Reverend Tengzaa said there were currently 30 babies at the orphanage, including; a set of twins and six babies, who were about three years.
She thanked all who in diverse ways helped the orphanage and prayed for God’s blessings on all its benefactors for the coming yuletide.
