Sissala West MP: Resource development is my topmost priority

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West Constituency in the Upper West Region and Minister of Roads and Highways, Amin Amidu Sulemani says he will not relent on his efforts in contributing to develop the human resource capacity in the area.

In this regard, the MP via his own personal initiative has setup two separate Endowment Funds at the Sissala Rural Bank in Tumu with an initial investment sum of forty thousand Ghana cedis to be accessed by women groups and students.

Mr. Bagbara Tanko who is a Public Relations Officer to Hon. Amin Aidu Sulemani communicated this to Ghana Web.

He said, the fund dubbed: Sissala West Women Development Fund and Sissala West Education Fund, is intended to economically empower various women groups and provide support for students to address the numerous difficulties and challenges bedeviling residents of the community.

The only way to reduce poverty in the country and more especially in the three northern regions, according to him, is to invest in the education of children and the empowerment of women to undertake viable economic ventures.

Speaking on the fact that the country was on course to achieving the millennium target of halving poverty by the targeted date 2015, he added that eliminating poverty and creating jobs cannot be done by government alone, hence government needs support, including NGO’s and the private sector.

He, therefore, commended Plan Ghana, Action Aid Ghana and other developmental partners for the numerous interventions made over the years in respect to developing Education, Health care, Agriculture and women empowerment in the two Sissala Districts.

Hon. Amin Aidu Sulemani considers his position as an MP to be an opportunity in contributing his quota in bringing transformation to his constituency, the Sissala land and Ghana at large. Hon. Amin however urged the beneficiaries to make prime use of this fund by working hard to outdo in every endeavor of life.

He was optimistic that with the support and confidence reposed on him by his constituent; gradually the challenges in Sissala West will surmount by a collective effort.
