Takoradi, Dec. 26, GNA - Four babies were delivered at Kwesiminstim, while the Takoradi Hospital recorded two births on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Mrs Jane Boakye-Yiadom, who was the only mother to deliver twin girls on Christmas Eve, said she was happy that both babies were alive and expressed her appreciation to the nurses and doctor for their assistance.
Mrs Diana Wood, a nursing officer at the Kwesiministim Hospital said pregnant women should visit antenatal clinics regularly and report any problems that they might experience after visiting the hospital. She said nursing mothers should eat well to enable them to get enough energy to support their babies. Mrs Wood advised them to feed their babies regularly and counselled couples to plan their families to enable them to cater for them adequately.
She asked husbands to support their expectant wives to make them feel emotionally balanced before and after delivery. Madam Theresa Nyamekye, a Principal Midwifery Superintendent said pregnant women should visit the antenatal clinics and ensure that they are given the normal doze of Sulfadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) to protect them and the unborn baby from malaria.
