A political analyst, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has blamed the growing corruption in country to the proliferation of smaller political parties.
He contends that the leaders of lesser known political are not interested in favorably competing in elections in the country to win, but only bent on using such bodies to milk money from the larger ones and enrich themselves.
“They have brought dishonesty and more noise into the political landscape of the country”, he said.
Dr. Baah is angry at persons he described as unacceptable characters doing the bidding of others in the name of the political parties, suggesting that there should be a criteria to weed out such persons.
According to him, the laws of the country should prescribe some level of education for persons seeking to be flagbearers of parties to allow sanity to prevail in the politicking of the country.
“You have all manner of people going round making noise and as to whether he/she is qualified or not is another problem. You tell me what medium of communication someone like Akua Donkor will adopt in the unlikely event he wins power”, he quizzed on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko.
He admitted there was nothing wrong in the formation of political parties but was averse to the practice where architects of such parties use that as an opportunity to draw money from the ruling parties as well as the stronger opposition parties.
“There is nothing wrong to form an alliance but you behave as if you are independent and it looks like someone is pulling the strings. The smaller parties know they don’t stand the chance of winning any election in Ghana. How can someone seeking to be president be seen singing the praises of the incumbent, it’s a clear case of jokers. We need sanitize the arena and bring about proper democracy”, he advocated.
