A close family source has revealed that a social media brawl between the 15-year-old Ghanaian footballer and his colleague triggered his gruesome murder outside Stratford Broadway near Tramway in the UK a week ago.

Baptista Adjei died Thursday in the London Borough of Newham after being knifed by a colleague following a heated argument.

Speaking to SVTV’s DJ Nyaami at the week’s celebration of his passing, a close family member denied speculations that the incident occurred as a result of a gang attack but said they were peers.

“Social media is the cause of all this. They create a platform and as a matter if you are not careful something disastrous could happen to your ward. The whole argument started on a platform where the suspect threatened to meet the deceased one-on-one and later met and stabbed him to death”, she revealed.

She bemoaned the abuse of weapons by teenagers indicating it is one of the reasons people are killed carelessly calling on authorities to live up to the mark.

It would be recalled that the young ‘popular’ boy was fatally knifed in his school uniform outside McDonald’s, in Stratford Broadway, at 3.20 pm a week ago

Paramedics desperately tried to keep the teenager alive, who witnesses saw collapsed in a pool of blood, but he was pronounced dead at the scene just half an hour later.

Police believe Baptista, who was described by family as a ‘nice boy’, was either attacked while on the bus or shortly after he got off.

His 15-year-old school friend was also rushed to hospital with stab wounds, where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries. The talented footballer, who was wearing the uniform of Catholic boys’ school St Bonaventure’s, in Forest Gate, when he was attacked, had recently tried out for League One team Ipswich Town.

Baptista, who was described as an affectionate boy who ‘would always make you laugh’, had phoned his mother Josephine to say he was on his way home just 20 minutes before he was fatally knifed.
