Socialist Forum congratulates CPP

The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) has congratulated the leadership and members of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) for holding a successful congress for the 2016 election.

It also congratulated Mr. Ivor Greenstreet on his victory as Presidential candidate of the CPP after the congress on Jan 30, a congratulatory message copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said in Accra.

In the message signed by Kwesi Pratt Jnr on behalf of the Convener, the SFG said it believed firmly that the CPP has a lot to offer in the struggle of the Ghanaian people for a new society whose resources would be controlled and exploited for the benefit of its people.

It said, ''The current situation in which the leadership of the various political parties have accepted the status of neo-colonial dependence as given is not acceptable''.

SFG also pledged its readiness to join a broad platform of progressives to struggle alongside the masses of Ghanaians for economic emancipation and the formation of a continental union government.

The CPP, formed on 12th June, 1949, is the third force political party in the country.

It saw and recorded the first President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
