Soldiers and their accomplices remanded

An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded five persons for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

They are Lance Corporal Ibrahim Iddrisu, Police officer, Lance Emmanuel Obeng Domson, Soldier, Lance Corporal Obed Kwaku Agamati, Soldier, Noah Mensah, unemployed and Justice Aidoo, Driver.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on 8 July.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aiden Derry told the court presided over by Mr. Francis Obiri that on June 18, at about 1230 hours, Ibrahim was dressed in police uniform and armed with service AK 47 assault rifle loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition, was accompanied by Emmanuel and Kwaku, dressed in Military uniforms and Noah also in police jacket.

He said all the accused persons boarded Justice’s taxi with registration number GT 4891-14 and embarked on unofficial and unassigned night duty.

The prosecution said at about 0130 hours, a police patrol team from Nungua received a distress call from a witness in the case of an armed robbery attack in her household at Nungua barrier.

DSP Derry said the team rushed to the scene and arrested Emmanuel, Noah and Justice with their booty of nine laptop computers and four mobile phones, which the accused persons succeeded in seizing from the six Nigerian tenants.

“Ibrahim and Kwaku managed to escape, but Ibrahim was arrested at Lashibi,” he said.

He said police liaised with the Military High Command and got Kwaku arrested on June 23. Investigation is ongoing.
