Some Ghanaians have expressed strong condemnation of the destruction of the former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s statue at the Effia Nkwanta in the Western Region.
Viral pictures show the statue of the former president completely destroyed, with the head severed and other parts of the statue broken.
The act perpetrated by unknown individuals has sparked massive reactions on social media.
Netizens have suggested that an investigation into the act of vandalism be conducted and that the perpetrators be prosecuted.
Furthermore, they suggest that this lawless act could be seen as a disgrace to the nation, pointing out that it may reflect how some individuals lack respect for their statesmen and show unpatriotic behavior.
This is not the first time the statue has been tampered with. A few weeks ago, part of the statue was destroyed and later repaired.

The statue was not supposed to be there in the first place. Development in and around the place was not complete.

The person who built set Akufo Addo up to be ridiculed.
We all knew it was going to vandalized, we just didn’t know when.
This is a disgrace. pic.twitter.com/5B2mxqAEph
You can destroy his statue, but you can't distort his legacy. President Akufo-Addo pic.twitter.com/PWxSlKyvjN

This is the most disgraceful thing I have seen so far. They should’ve tightened security around the statue when the leg was damaged. We agree that we were not happy with somethings, but taking down the statue of Former President Nana Akufo-Addo is a no no for me pic.twitter.com/MieaDlc3fj
I'm against demolishing the statue of the Akufo Addo, not because I'm a fan of his (let's be real, he was a master thief who looted the public purse), but because vandalism isn't the solution. Instead, let's focus on promoting transparency and accountability. After all,— pic.twitter.com/FhA9WgeoX0
