The Tema Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Supt. Joseph Owusu Bempah has blamed some ladies for accidents that occur on some roads in Ghana.

He argued that ladies who wear skimpy or sexy dresses usually distract drivers, leading to road accidents.

“In fact, it’s a source of distraction”, Chief Supt. Owusu Bempah told Joy News in an interview.

He went ahead to say that it is important for ladies to dress moderately when walking on the streets but added that it is not a problem if they are in vehicles.

He revealed that some of them merely walk from one end of the road to the another, only to walk back to their starting point.

This, he explained, is a deliberate act, as they literally do nothing but pace up and down on the roads.

Chief Supt. Owusu Bempah also advised drivers to keep their eyes straight on the road when driving despite such ‘distractions.’ “Drivers who have been watching women should stop.

When they see a beautiful woman on the road, instead of driving past, they want to slow down and watch, and sometimes they get involved in accidents.

When you say it, they sometimes think it’s a joke; it’s not a joke at all,” he explained.

He went on to say that a programme organized by the police service, some drivers revealed that it was one of their challenges anytime they are on the road.
