A 29-year-old unemployed man, Kelvin Quist Agbenyega, has allegedly butchered his father to death at Koforidua Okorase in the Eastern Region .

The incident occurred Monday Morning at the family house.

The body of the deceased, Emmanuel Degraft Quist Agbenyega, a retired accountant has been deposited at the morgue of the Regional Hospital-Koforidua.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been arrested by the Okorase District Police Command.

The cause of the heinous crime is not yet known but family sources say the suspect who dropped out of school at Form 2 at the Pentecost Senior High School decade ago over poor performance, has been accusing his father for not supporting him secure a job after leaving school.

Narrating the incident to Starr News’ Eastern Regional Correspondent Kojo Ansah who visited the family house, a sibling of the suspect, Kennet Quist Agbenyegah said his late father unplugged some coconut fruits on the compound of the house.

Subsequently, the suspect took the cutlass used by his father to unplug the coconut and rushed on him in one of the uncompleted rooms in the house and inflicted the wounds from his back and neck killing him instantly.

He said together with his mother, a complainant was lodged at the Police station and the suspect surrendered to Police.

Consistent death threats

According to a family source, the suspect has many times threatened to kill the deceased but the matter was treated as domestic instead of reporting to the Police.

Kirk Quist Junior, one of the siblings told starr News the family is not surprised about the incident because the signs were clear on the wall but their deceased father didn’t want the suspect arrested.

When asked if the suspect had mental problem or was on drugs, he discounted that assertion.

Police has commenced investigations into the matter.
