Sonne community gets new CHPS compound

Government’s commitment to expand on health infrastructure and improve on both access and quality health delivery is on course in the Nandom District.

This follows the commissioning of more CHPS compounds by the Assembly for communities.

Speaking at the commissioning of one of such facilities at Sonne, near Gengenkpe, Mr. Cuthbert Baba Kuupiel, the Nandom District Chief Executive (DCE), admonished the people of Sonne Community to see the facility and the nurse in-charge as their own and take good care of both to their benefit.

He said the three more CHPS compounds would be ready for use at Nandomkpee, Bikyinteng and Guri.

This year, two have already been commissioned while three others are almost ready for commissioning thus bringing joy and relief to the local people.

The DCE paid tribute to the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nandom, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor, for the role and commitment in promoting maternal and rural public health in the district.

The District Director of Health Services, Madam Genevieve Yiripare appealed to the Assembly to provide the CHPS compound with a motor bike to aid mobility and transportation of drugs to the facility.

The chiefs and people of Sonne who came to grace the occasion expressed gratitude to the government for the facility.
