Speaker welcomes Prince Charles and wife at Kotoka International Airport

Speaker of Parliament Professor Aaron Michael Oquaye on Friday welcomed the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the Kotoka International Airport for a four-day Royal visit to strengthen ties with Ghana.

The Royal plane CS-TFY, with blue and white colours touched down at the runway at 1348 hours.

Other dignitaries and government officials who were at the airport to welcome the Royal couple included; Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Iain Walker, British High Commissioner, Papa Owusu Ankomah ,Ghana's Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Mr Joseph Adda, the Minister of Aviation.

The Royal couple headed to the Jubilee House, the seat of government, to pay a courtesy call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and engage in closed door discussions.

The Royal visit to Ghana formed part of a week-long tour of West Africa to strengthen ties with the Commonwealth nations.

The Prince of Wales would also confer with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.

The British High Commissioner is expected to host Prince Charles to Royal dinner to mark his 70th birthday.

A state banquet would be held in his honour.
