Spelling Bee finalists to be announced on Tuesday

The results of the Greater Accra Regional Spelling Bee finalists would be forwarded to their various schools on Tuesday, October 7.

This would be done after the judges had put together the results of the vocabulary testing and oral spelling, to select best performance schools.

Not more than 35 prospective students from Accra would be chosen for the 2014/2015 national finals.

Madam Eugenia Takyi Menson, Country Director of Young Educators Foundation (YEF), a Non-Governmental Organisation and organisers of the Spelling Bee, announced this at the end of the Greater Accra Regional finals held at Christ The King School Hall on Thursday.

In all about 200 students from 10 schools participated in the Accra Regional finals and were supported by MultiChoice Ghana Limited. Indomie Instant Noodles were the title sponsors across the country.

Participating schools were Air Force Basic, Airport Police ‘A and B’ Primary, Burma Camp Primary, Englebert, East Legon, Flagstaff House Basic, Garrison Basic, Ghana Atomic Energy Commission Basic, Jack and Jill, and Moalbertha Academy and Services Basic.

The students were taken through vocabulary testing and oral spelling.

Other partners of the Spelling Bee programme were Club Muscatella, Voltic, TYPE, Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation, PrintAid Foundation, Rufus, Graphic Communications Group, Joy FM, and Citi FM.
