Spio Garbrah On Rawlings And Prez Mills

The Chief Executive Officer of Action Chapel International, Ekwow Spio Garbrah has admonished the leadership of the National Democratic Congress to adopt a ceasefire approach in solving the bad blood between President Mills and former president Jerry John Rawlings before the December polls.

According to the former diplomat, both men have a very good understanding of the importance of peace as the elections approach. He said ex President Rawlings is a peace envoy to Somalia while President Mills has also been tagged the ‘Asomdwehene,’ adding that adopting a ceasefire amid mutual forgiveness will help in solving their problems.

He however added that such a move could be an effort in futility if aides to President Mills and Mr. Rawlings do not avoid attacking each other.

“A ceasefire can be arranged, former President Rawlings is a peacemaker in Somalia and he is a military man so he understands ceasefire. You have President Mills who is another Asomdwehene, who has helped in Cote d’Ivoire and other places to bring peace to parts of the continent so they both understand how to bring about peace”.

“I think those around them can also encourage more peaceful co-habitation rather than engineering or provoking the key combatants to more or less fire.

“That should be the objective, let’s cease fire so we can talk” Mr. Spio said in an interview on Joy FM.

The former CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) however added that despite the difficulties that the NDC government, faces it stands a better chance of winning the December elections.

The onetime flagbearer hopeful of the NDC stated that his party has more moral advantages over the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) which he said will inure to the benefit of the NDC.
