Spio-Garbrah: assess recommendations of education forum

Accra, Feb. 29, GNA - Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Education, on Tuesday called on agencies of the Ministry of Education (MOE) to provide his office with their preliminary assessment of recommendations made at the National Education Forum held in November, last year.

This, he said, would give the ministry the opportunity to know which of them could be immediately implemented under this year's budget. Mr Spio-Garbrah, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Accra.

"Ninety recommendations came out from the forum and it is important to hold discussions with MOE agencies to know which of them could be tackled immediately, either for short, medium, long term, or the year 2003 and beyond." He said the essence of the exercise is to find out whether further analysis of the recommendations is necessary before they are implemented or whether there is the need to bring in consultants to help in their implementation.
