A 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers deepened the woes of the Black Stars who are facing a monumental disgrace of not qualifying for Africa's biggest footballing tournament for the first time in 20 years.

Qualifying for AFCON has seemingly been Ghana's birthright for over two decades, but they find themselves in a predicament in the 2025 qualifiers as te team has only two points from four matches played so far.

On this episode of GhanaWeb Sports Check, host Emmanuel Enin sits with former Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe to get his candid insight into the circumstances that resulted in the abysmal state of not just the Black Stars but Ghana football as a whole.

Tagoe, first and foremost, disclosed that he feels terrible whenever he watches the Black Stars.

He went on to call out the Black Stars officials and placed the majority of the blame on them.

He mentioned the mismanagement of the captaincy, pointing out that Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew were disrespected when they were stripped of the armband.

Tagoe also noted that the unresolved captaincy issue transcended into the current group, leading to a lack of unity in the squad.

The former Hoffenheim man expressed his disappointment over Mohammed Kudus being handed the armband ahead of Jordan Ayew and other issues within the team.

In the extensive conversation, the former Hearts of Oak player talked about the club, shared some of his memorable moments during his time there, discussed his toughest opponent in his heydays, as well as some projects he has embarked on after retiring from football.
