Minister of Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah has said that certain comments purported to have come from the immediate past Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, does not bother him.
Mr Asiamah, who doubles as a Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has come under the criticism of MP for Odododiodoo but he appears unfazed.
“I am not worried,” he stressed, “I have sworn that I will serve the country.” “So he is entitled to his opinion, whatever he says doesn’t bother me,” Mr Asiamah said in an interview on Onua FM on Friday.
“I will continuously serve the country, the work is not about lamentation as someone did. I will not lament. I will be focused and concentrate on the job.
So, when I am quiet as a minister, it means I have work to do and the job needs concentration.” ‘Criminal offence’ The Minister further questioned his predecessor’s integrity during his tenure in office, citing his claim that he was approached by GFA officials to be bribed at one time.
“If you are able to say that the time you were at the ministry some people wanted to bribe you, then what measure did you embark on?”
“This is a criminal offence and he should have taken action. “For me you can’t even venture.
I have been an MP for 12 years and served on the Public Accounts Committee for 8 years so everyone knows my worth. For me, I have not encountered such thing, if so I will take action. So indeed no one can approach me with a bribe.”
