Saint Hubert Seminary Alumni (SAHUSA) of USA will hold its Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio from Saturday, May 24 to Monday, May 26, 2014. The three-day Memorial week-end event is expected to bring together some fifty past students and their families from several cities including Los Angeles CA), Denver (CO), Atlanta (GA), and Alexandria (VA). Others will arrive from Baltimore (MD), New York City, Boston (MA), West Orange (NJ), and Philadelphia (PA). The Guest of Honor is Rev. Monsignor Manu Denteh, the fourth Rector of the Seminary (1983 – 1993).
As a social organization made up of former students, SAHUSA seeks to promote fellowship among former students and provide current students and staff with financial support and other vital resources. Interacting with this reporter, the Chairman of SAHUSA-Columbus, Nana Nsiah Korankye (known in private life as Mr. Thomas Nsiah), prayed that many more past students would hear about the Convention and come to participate. He was thankful to St. Hubert Seminary for educating him and his colleagues as leaders of faith and character. He pleaded with his colleagues to seriously consider giving back to their alma mater as much as one is able to help keep the flame alive and strong.
Saint Hubert Seminary was opened in September 1970 by the Most Rev. Peter K. Sarpong, then Bishop of Kumasi, for the commencement of the formation of Kumasi diocesan priests. It has since produced several hundreds of Catholic priests, fine and dedicated catechists, music directors, doctors, engineers, lawyers, and entrepreneurs, to mention but a few.
