Stadium Hotel Tops 1-Star Hotels

THE STADIUM Hotel in Kumasi emerged the Hotel of the Year (1- Star category) at the fifth Ashanti Regional Tourism Awards night in Kumasi.

For its prize, Stadium Hotel will enjoy a ?2 million advertisement package from Top Radio.

Manager Yaw Amoah-Poku assured that the high standards set at the place would be sustained to ensure quality service at all times.

In all, 16 tourism facilities and individuals received awards for outstanding performance. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was named the Tourism Personality of the Year.

Mr. Martin Mireku, acting Executive Director of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB), said a total of $15 billion in foreign exchange earnings is expected from the tourism sector by 2010.

The Regional Minister, Hon. S. K. Boafo, assured that the government, through its private sector participation, would liaise with banks and prospective investors to develop the abundant tourism potentials in the region to generate employment in the region.
