As part of efforts to lessen water challenges in the country, the Wealth and Investment Unit of Stanbic Bank Ghana in partnership with Meaningful Life International has inaugurated a mechanized borehole at Asuboi- Boasi in the Eastern Region.

Prior to the construction of the borehole, Asuboi- Boasi, a farming community in the Eastern Region did not have any hygienic source of water.

The primary sources of water were very small unhygienic mud puddles which bred water borne diseases. Alternatively, the people in the community had to travel far to find water.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Head of the Wealth and Investment Unit, Stanbic Bank Ghana, Mr. Benjamin Mensah said, “As part of our second-year anniversary celebration, we decided to embark on a project that is meaningful and impactful; that leaves a lasting legacy in the community because we think it is a better way to celebrate the second year of sustenance. We believe water is wealth-which is what we stand for, thus, our partnership with the NGO called Meaningful Life International which constructs wells in deprived communities.”

Stanbic Bank’s Wealth and Investment Unit’s support to the construction of the borehole is in direct consonance with the bank’s commitment to support sustainable agriculture and livelihoods across all communities. The Bank also provided gifts such as wellington boots, cutlasses, sandals and buckets.

A Community Elder of the Asuboi-Boasi Community, Nana Afedi II conveyed the community’s gratitude to Stanbic Bank and their partners who provided funds and ensured that the project was well executed. He stated that:

“On behalf of the whole Asuboi- Boasi Community, I say thank you to Stanbic Bank and its partners. In order to have good health, portable water is required. The situation in the past was that we will travel to places in search of mud holes and this is how we got our water. Thankfully, Stanbic Bank has come to our aid and for this we are immensely grateful.”

Stanbic Bank Ghana is unwavering in its efforts to drive Africa’s growth and this gesture is part of the Bank’s efforts to contribute to the social development of communities in Ghana.
