Stanbic Ghana will support the Leukaemia Foundation of Ghana with 20% of proceeds from the 2016 Stanbic Jazz Festival as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the community
This was made known by Mawuko Afadzinu, Head - Marketing and Communications of the Bank, at the media launch of the event which was held at the Stanbic Heights on the 1st of June, 2016.
The 2016 edition of the Festival will feature Bob James, the two-time Grammy Award winner and smooth jazz keyboardist as the main act. In support are saxophonist Tom Braxton and a host of local acts notably Aka Blay, Ben Ayisah, Kyekyeku and Constant Boty. The three-day festival will be held at the Accra International Conference Center, June 24 to 26, 2016.
Mawuko Afadzinu said: “Over the past three years we have been ensuring that the Stanbic Jazz Festival gains recognition as a stop on the global jazz calendar by presenting top-flight musicians to the people of Ghana”. The Stanbic Jazz festival, which is in its third year, has seen acts like Peter White and Earl Klugh entertain Jazz lovers in Ghana.
According to him Stanbic intends to help develop and grow the jazz music industry in Ghana by introducing “training and skills development in all the related fields of technical production including sound engineering and lighting, marketing and PR, event management and hospitality.”
The 2016 edition is co-sponsored by Vodafone Business Solutions, Labadi Beach Hotel, Graphic Communications Group Limited Joy FM and Citi FM.
