Standard recipe for local dishes soon - Chefs

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - The Ghana Chefs Association is preparing a recipe on Ghanaian local dishes to enable the country to possess a recipe of international standard.

Mr Nutepe Kartey-Attipoe, General Secretary of the Association, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that at the moment there were no standard recipes for Ghanaian dishes hence the need to develop one. "There is the need for a collection of Ghanaian foods to represent standard recipes and put Ghanaian food on the international menu," he said.

Mr Kartey-Attipoe said the development of standard recipes also sought to change the face of local cuisines noting that food could help to attract tourists to the country.

The Association, he said, was also liaising with hotels and restaurants to adopt and serve Ghanaian dishes to foreigners, adding "Ghanaian dishes are among the best in culinary.=94 Mr Kartey-Attipoe said chefs were the professional heads of any catering establishment, who were responsible for planning the menu and bringing variety to make them attractive.
