The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, continues his “State Capture” exposé as he shares more documents of state properties, including lands sold to proponents of the ruling New Patriotic Party and the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

The latest document shared by the MP cites Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited, a media house owned by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a stalwart of the NPP and cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to Ablakwa, the property housing the media house is one of the properties of the Judicial Service of Ghana that the service has indicated was illegally sold by the government.

“As I disclosed on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana last Friday, the first on the list of properties the Judicial Service of Ghana has gone to court on 24th February 2024, to reclaim is a building now occupied by Gabby Otchere-Darko’s Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited.

“The Asaase Radio building in issue is Number 7, 5th Circular Road, located in Cantonments. According to court documents, the Judicial Service of Ghana insists that the sale of Number 7, 5th Circular Road in Cantonments, which was last occupied by Justice F. G. Korbie, is unconstitutional and unlawful,” the MP wrote.

The MP went on to give the circumstances under which the Judicial Service property was supposedly sold.

He indicated that the said property was first sold under the John Agyekum Kufuor government. It was later bought by a firm closely associated with Gabby’s media house.

“Diligent parliamentary oversight reveals that Number 7, 5th Circular Road located in Cantonments was bought by Lilly Homes Limited on 4th March 2020. Lilly Homes Limited is a company with strong familial ties with a prominent politically exposed director of Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited. Lilly Homes and Asaase Radio have an indisputable partnership.

“Lilly Homes purchased the controversial property from Mr Fosuaba Akwasi Banahene, who bought the bungalow on 18th July 2006, from President Kufuor. At the time, Mr Fosuaba Akwasi Banahene was President Kufuor’s appointed chairman of the GETFund board.”

The North Tongu legislator also shared documents which showed a list of Judicial Service land and bungalows the service claims were illegally sold, including Number 7, 5th Circular Road, located in Cantonments.
