Kofi Bentil, vice president of IMANI Africa, has said Ghana as a sovereign State need not to save people from their own stupidity. According to him, the state should rather focus on solving real problems facing Ghanaians and not plain stupidity. He said, inasmuch as Ghanaians have the freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom of worship, it requires some form of responsibility as well. Bentil wrote on his Facebook timeline after it emerged on Saturday that Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess had subjected her church members to another 'sika gari' scam at her Heavenway Champion International Ministry. The police later issued a statement that the fetish priestess turned evangelist had been arrested and assisting in investigations. Kofi Bentil in his post submitted: "Freedom requires responsibility!!! "The State has no duty to save a person from their own stupidity. We should focus on solving real problems, not plain stupidity."
