Stealing of soup nearly breaks up marriage

Kojo Badukrom [Central Region], 19 Nov. 1998- A couple in Kojo Badukrom in the Central Region, married for over 20 years, last Thursday nearly parted company after a thief had made away with palm nut soup the family was to have for their evening meal. The quarrel between the couple was furious and prolonged, with each blaming the other for the mishap, to the extent that the marriage was threatened. However, with the timely intervention of close relatives and neighbours, supported strongly by all the four kids of the couple, the 55- minute war of words ended. According to the wife, who wants to remain anonymous, after preparing their fufu, the couple realised to their chagrin that the pot full of soup on fire in the shared kitchen, was no where to be found. She explained that while they were preparing the fufu it started to rain, so they had to move into their room to continue with the preparation but left the soup on the fire in the kitchen covered with a board to let it cook well. When the fufu was ready she went for the soup from the kitchen but it was nowhere to be found. The pot, in which the soup was cooked was found on the refuse dump in the village the next morning but no arrest has been made so far. The unit committee of the village has set up a committee to find the perpetrator of the crime.
