A 24-year-old steel bender, Samuel Kobina has been sentenced to a month imprisonment by a Cape Coast Magistrate Court for stealing a mobile phone and a wallet with money all valued at GHC 545.00
Kobina pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and unlawful entry and the Court presided over by Mrs Gloria Mensah Bonsu convicted him on his own plea.
Narrating the fact of the case, Sergeant Christian Antwi told the court that the complainant, Isaac Mensah is a receptionist at Kofgan hotel and a resident at Jackson Street in Cape Coast while Kobina lives at Djedjano.
He said on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at about 1400 hours, Mr Mensah left his Tecno mobile phone valued Gh¢345.00 and a wallet containing GH¢ 200.00 in a drawer at the reception of the hotel and went to the sitting room.
Sergeant Antwi said Kobina broke through the sliding window and made away with the phone and wallet containing the money.
Mr Mensah perceived the present of Kobina in the room, raised an alarm and he was arrested with the help of the security man at the premises and was handed over to police
The wallet containing cash GH¢200.00 and the phone were retrieved from him after a search.
