Step down honourably and stop the needless ranting – Agyenim Boateng to Asare Bediako

The Ashanti Regional Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Daniel Agyenim Boateng is counseling Mr. Asare Bediako who is seeking to unseat Bernard Antwi Boasiako as Regional Chairman to come out openly to announce his decision step down from the race or not and stop what he described as needless ranting.

In an exclusive interview with MyNewsGH.com’s Syxtus Eshun at the party’s Regional Secretariat at Buokrom a suburb of Kumasi Metropolis, he indicated: “We have done a lot in attaining power in the 2016 election, therefore there is no need for someone else to say he is coming to continue”.

“Maybe somebody says he will step down, but that isn’t our concern. However, if you want to step down, come out honorably and make it clear that, you can’t compete in the race, don’t blame somebody else. We have heard people going around with information that, the president has called them. He (Nana Addo) hasn’t called anyone. As far as I’m concerned…Nana Addo hasn’t called anyone. The contest is still open, let’s go”. He challenged.

His comments were in reactions to claims that Chairman Wontumi’s contender Mr. Asare Bediako had been persuaded by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo – Addo not to contest the election.

Though Agyenim indicated in the interview his comments were not directed at anyone in the party, MyNewsGH.com gathered that it was in direct reference to Mr. Asare Bediako who announced his decision to contest the race and who also claimed the president called to him to Kwahu but did not discuss anything concerning the elections.

Mr. Asare Bediako a former Chairman of the party has made plain his intention to contest in the race which has since generated a heated argument between his faction and that of Chairman Wontumi.

A Kumasi-based man of God, Prophet Adu Boahene has however prophesied Mr. Asare Bediako is going to win the elections hands down should he go ahead to contest but warned of dire consequences if the leadership persuade him to step down.

But some members of Wontumi’s camp have rejected the prophecy saying it’s untrue and not from God.

Mr. Agyenim in his interview strongly affirmed that Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako well known as the Ashanti Governor will retain his seat as the Regional Chairman while he will also win the Organizer position.

The New Patriotic party will go for delegate conference on the 21st to 24 this month to elect its new leadership at Ejura however, Mr. Agyenim Boateng, with much confidence urged delegates to calm down and vote wisely for the best team.
