Nigerian business magnate, investor, and owner of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has urged African leaders to intensify their efforts to eradicate polio on the continent.
He also called on the governments to increase their budget allocation towards polio eradication as well as capacity building in the health sector in order to effectively tackle the problem.
In a tweet, Mr Dangote said : “We are close to eradicating #polio in Africa, but until we protect all our children with proper vaccination, the risk of the virus spreading will remain. We need to step up action as stakeholders especially in vulnerable and inaccessible areas.”
He added: “We are also calling for more participation from Government concerning routine immunisation, increased budget allocation as well as building capacity in the health sector.”
