The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency of the Savannah Region has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate of the Constituency Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini to stop deceiving the people of the area by claiming credit for projects he has no knowledge of and or not contributed to their success.

A statement signed by the NDC Communication Officer for the Daboya- Mankarigu Constituency Abdulai Sulemana dated 9th May, 2020 said the attention of the NDC in the Constituency has been drawn that some nine boreholes that are being constructed across the North Gonja District are credited to the name of the Parliamentary Candidate of NPP and that this is not the first time the NPP Parliamentary Candidate of the area has deceived the people by claiming credit for projects he has no knowledge of.

Below is the full statement:

Politics Of Deceit And Dishonesty, The Case of Daboya Mankarigu Constituency

It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Constituency that, the nine boreholes that are being constructed across the North Gonja District are credited to the name of the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini.

The NDC is compelled to come out with the facts on this matter because the bigger the lie the more believable it is.

Besides, it is not the first time this Parliamentary Candidate decides to deceive the people by claiming credit for projects he has no knowledge of and or not contributed to their success.

In fact, in some instances, apart from misinforming the people of Daboya that he repairs the mismanaged Community water system any time it breaks down, he also told the people of Kuporto and Yagbon that he is the one using his pocket money to construct a CHPS compound and a three-unit classroom block in these Communities respectively.

Meanwhile, these two projects were re-awarded to him by the Assembly when there was a change of government in 2017.

To set the records straight;

1. The contract of nine boreholes were secured by Alhaji Adam, a worker at Ghana Water Company Limited, from an NGO in Kuwait.

2. Alhaji Adam is a native of North Gonja and hails from a Community called Gurbagu.

3. The beneficiary Areas/ Communities are as follows;1. Daboya Community day SHS, 2. Daboya – Sawaba3. Wawato4. Gurbagu5. Donkompe6. Yagbon7. Mankarigu8. Kparia 9. Kuporto (document attached).

However, Alhaji Adam could not execute the project on his own but had to pass it through the District Assembly for the sake of protocol. As a result, the DCE and the PC’s team are going around deceiving the people that the projects were been executed by the PC.

In one instance, a leading team member of the PC went to Donkompe with the District Engineer and mentioned to them that they are bringing them a borehole courtesy Alhaji Mahama Asei, little did he know that the man whose philanthropic project they wanted to claim to project their ‘try me and see’ PC is a proud son of the people they went to deceive. What an embarrassment?

The NDC takes a strong exception to this and demands an apology from the PC and his team since this is capable of eroding the trust the populace in the Constituency have for the politician.

We also think that the action of the NPP PC with the aid of DCE in an attempt to always put Assembly and philanthropic projects to his credit will not only place the District in the last position next time but will also drive away philanthropists who want to carry out such projects in the District in the near future.

Finally, the NDC wants to throw a word of advice to the NPP PC and his team to engage in politics of sincerity and honesty since that is the only way he can get their support like his colleague from the other divide.

Signed….

Abdulai Sulemana

NDC Communication Officer Daboya- Mankarigu Constituency.
