Controversial Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has insisted that Ghana needs the presence of Vigilante groups during elections.

To him, the existence of vigilante groups at the various polling stations prevents the dislocation of ballot papers and other election malpractices because persons who come with negative thoughts begin to think in right directions when they meet strong men they believe can face them.

"Party vigilante groups are very much needed in Ghana to protect ballot boxes at polling stations. Indeed they work uniquely than the so-called polling agents who have been mandated to work as such" he angrily stressed.

Speaking on UTV's late news panel discussion segment, Lawyer Ampaw suggested that instead of dissolving the vigilante groups, the members should rather be trained to work during elections.

"Vigilante groups are not illegal; they are needed...I know for a fact that no vigilante group has been dissolved. Members of the NPP have come under pressure to make statements that they have dissolved vigilante groups..."
