Stop playing politics with national issues- Gen Mosquito

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito has advised politicians to stop playing politics with national issues in the country.

According to him, whenever there are ‘genuine national problems’ and it is played on the field of politics, it loses its value and significance.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show on Wednesday, Gen. Mosquito said politicians need to come together to solve national issues as it is - that is when the country will develop and move forward’.

“Most often when issues of national interest arise, instead of solving it with a nationalist view, we play politics with it and then it loses its importance because the blame game comes on. For instance with the energy crisis in the country; instead of finding a lasting solution to it, we are rather playing politics with it and the situation is still persisting. Now we’ve even coined a greeting from it; Ye Ma Mo Dum So oooo -yaaa Mahama : which shouldn’t be the case. When the issue is politicized the genuine issue being raised is lost in the debate…” Gen Mosquito intimated.

He encouraged politicians to call a spade a spade instead of telling lies just to be acknowledged in his or her party. He alluded to the fact that if NDC is charting the wrong path, he will boldly say it and not keep quiet just because he is the General Secretary of the same party.

“I am not speaking for one party here and one party there; I am just saying that is the character of politicians and they need to stop. If the thing is not good, I will not say because it is being done by NDC, I will support it. I don’t do things like that…” he indicated.
