Stop politicians from using diplomatic passports - Former MCE

Ghanaian visa Ghanaian visa

Politicians in Ghana must be denied diplomatic passports which enables them and their family members seek medical treatment outside the country even in emergency situations leaving the country’s health facilities in a distressed state, Akwasi Ofori Agyemang Boadi has proposed.

“Because our Members of Parliament (MPs) and politicians know that they have diplomatic passports they quickly run to UK and South Africa anytime for medical treatment”, the former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said.

“When you go to our hospitals they are in deplorable conditions and because they know they will never visit there they do not want to develop them to improve healthcare delivery”

“They should deny MPs visas. If every politician is denied a visa to travel anyhow, we will build the better schools and hospitals needed for quality lives “, he pointed out.

“When we want better schools for our children we sent them abroad because we are now ministers and MMDCEs. If you have done something better in your constituency when parliament goes on recess go there and be with your people”

“I have not traveled in my whole life outside of this country and I do not want to go to anywhere because we have to stay and build our country”. The failed parliamentary hopeful revealed.

He stated politicians in officials assignment to foreign countries are only interested in lodging in expensive hotels wasting the country’s inadequate resources with no concrete steps to improve on the conditions of their home countries.
