Spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai have condemned reports circulating that the decision of the traders to reduce prices of their products recently was done in solidarity with the Akufo-Addo government.

They blamed some elements within the outgoing NDC government for the mischief being played around this gesture for the Christmas season, which they claimed was started since 2007.

The leadership of the spare part dealers say the recent decrease in prices by some traders, was done to sustain the patronage of their market which normally sees a sharp fall during the Christmas festivities.

There were speculations the dealers cut their prices to support the newly-elected government as their bid to sell at high prices during the NDC administration only reflects a mere sabotage of the government at the time.

But Mr. Siaw Ampadu, a leader of the traders at Abossey Okai told Fiifi Banson Monday it makes economic sense considering this yearly ritual, saying “We do this at the end of every year to stimulate demand of our market because we’ve realized that during the X’mas season our sales drop. However it’s a normal practice in business to reduce prices for our customers during X’mas to appreciate them. Let’s not put a political twist on this gesture,”

He said they’re enraged by the excessive politicization of their market, insisting that traders within its hub are made of both NDC and NPP, hence it won’t be fair for anyone to link them to a particular political party.
