Stop polluting people's minds with falsehood -Dzamesi

Ho, Sept. 21, GNA - Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, has appealed to politicians and intellectuals from the region who capitalized on the illiteracy and poverty levels of the people to pollute their minds with falsehood to put a stop to it.

"It is time for people who profess to have the welfare of the region at heart to fight and eliminate illiteracy and poverty among them rather than polluting their minds with falsehood for cheap political gains", he said.

Mr. Dzamesi said this when a four-man delegation from Dzodze Penyi Senior High School called on him at his office on Thursday to thank him for his numerous assistance to the school.

The visit was also to congratulate him on his election to contest the Ketu North constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 elections.

Mr. Dzamesi said people should refrain from using the airwaves to malign and mudsling their fellow citizens and that "there is the need for consensus building and unity to move the region forward". He said a number of development projects were being implemented in the region including roads, school infrastructure and provision of good drinking water.

The Minister assured the delegation of his continued assistance to the school and said there were feasibility studies going on for a new girls' dormitory.

Mr. Samuel Senaye, Headmaster of the school and leader of the delegation, said it was through the instrumentality of the Regional Minister that the school was enjoying a lot of development projects including an assembly hall. 21 Sept. 07
