Stop wasting your time, resources – Dr Apraku told

Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who intends to contest for the party’s 2016 flagbearership slot, has been advised to dispose of that ambition.

Speaking to The Informer on condition of anonymity, a close associate of the twice-defeated presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo said, “honestly, I like Dr. Apraku’s enthusiasm, but unfortunately, he should realize that he cannot win the NPP flagbearership slot, either now or in the foreseeable future”.

According to him, the only person who can give Nana Addo’s protégé, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a hot challenge if he (Nana Addo) decides not to contest is Professor Frimpong Boateng.

“Nana Addo welcomes competition, but those wishing to contest him for the flagbearership position must think twice,” he added.

Asked to explain further, he said “Nana Addo has the clout having contested twice to be elected president of this country, and this places him ahead of his other contestants. In fact, our party delegates, under no circumstances, will abandon Nana for someone like Apraku, who is not even liked by his constituents”.

He concluded by advising Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku to “stop wasting his time and resources, since his vision will never see the light of day”.

The above-reaction comes in the wake of Dr. Apraku’s nationwide tour to galvanize support towards his ambition as NPP’s 2016 flagbearer.

According to media reports, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku has been meeting with polling station and constituency executives of the party soliciting their support.

Dr. Apraku’s aide, Baah Acheamfour, is reported saying that his boss (Apraku), as part of his consultative tour, is meeting people in the various constituencies… talking to them to get their views about the two defeats the party suffered in 2008 and 2012.

According to him, the NPP needs a change of candidate for the 2016 elections having suffered two electoral defeats with Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo as its flagbearer.

“We need change in the party. The party has suffered these two defeats because of leadership,” Baah Acheamfour is reported to have said in support of his boss.
