The Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Maame Akua Donkor, has lambasted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over its continuous attacks on the Electoral Commission chairperson, Jean Mensa.
According to her, the EC chairperson has been working tirelessly to ensure that credible voters register for the 2024 general elections, yet the NDC members keep making false accusations against her.
She warned the NDC members and its leaders to stay away from attacking Jean Mensa and focus on the elections because their accusations are baseless.
Akua Donkor made the comment during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
“I’m grateful to God that since she [Jean Mensa] became the EC, the NDC has worried her a lot, including taking her to court over the voter register, but they were disgraced. The EC also conducted the exhibition voter registration and presented a credible register, yet they are still pestering her. Don’t you know God brought the EC? So no matter what you do, it won’t succeed.
“I pray she stands the pressure and goes through successfully. The worrying and lying about the EC should cease and allow her to work. You have raised guns and knives to engage in violent acts, yet the NPP did not even take much action against you,” she fumed.
Meanwhile, the NDC has been vehemently criticizing the EC for not correcting discrepancies in the voter register and failing to respond to their grievances.
However, the EC has refuted the claims, adding that it is just a political strategy to divert attention.
