The suspended General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Atik Mohammed has served notice to soon ensure that the party’s Communications Director, Emmanuel Wilson Jnr is cut to size within the party.
According to him, Mr. Wilson has taken advantage of the disunity among national executives of the party and is throwing his weight about and waging a personal war against him(Atik) an expression of sour grapes as he defeated him (Wilson) during the General Secretary contest of the party.
A statement signed by the PNC Director of Communication, Emmanuel Wilson Jr has served notice to Atik Mohammed to stop holding himself as an executive of the party or risk being arrested.
“The party leadership will cause the arrest of Atik Mohamed if he continues to impersonate as the General Secretary of PNC, both in private and at public events,” the statement read in part.
Mr. Mohammed had been spotted at public events, the recent being a meeting with President Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House, in his capacity as one of the leaders of the party.
However reacting to the statement, on Okay FM, Atik Mohammed who contests his suspension described recent happenings in the PNC as an unfortunate but added that the Presidency did not err in inviting him as he remains the party’s General Secretary.
He urged Emmanuel Wilson to package his message well next time and re-contest him if he wants to become the General Secretary and stop acting as the General Secretary when he’s just a mere appointee.
“I’m sad, what is going on is bad and it amounts to party indiscipline and disrespect. Wilson was not elected, he is an appointee. The party decided that after he contested me and defeated him during our primaries, we need all hands on deck and so find something for him to do as Communications Officer of the party. He’s supposed to work directly under me and report to me, but he doesn’t do that. He went to Bagbin’s constituency during the 2016 elections to campaign for him, and there are pictorial evidence to back this fact and we were getting ready to refer him to the disciplinary committee for appropriate action.
“Anytime there’s an incident he quickly uses the party letterhead and issues a statement and it’s construed by the media that the PNC as a party has spoken. His nonsense will stop in no time, I’m sure leadership cannot continue to be at loggerheads with one another. It’s about time we tell ourselves the hard truth and move the party forward. He and others who are in breach of party discipline will be referred to the appropriate structure to face sanctions.”
