Stopping sale of SSNIT hotels is not a win – IMANI Africa president

President of IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe President of IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe

IMANI Africa’s President, Franklin Cudjoe, holds a different opinion on the discontinuation of the sale of SSNIT hotels to a private investor.

Rock City has withdrawn their bid to purchase 60% shares in four SSNIT hotels, which, according to the Director General, are currently struggling.

SSNIT has also, in a press statement, announced that they have rescinded their decision to sell the shares in the four hotels.

These decisions were announced after organized labour declared a nationwide strike until the decision to sell the hotels.

Although Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is of the view that victory has been won, Franklin Cudjoe thinks otherwise.

He is of the view that the fight against the sale of the 60% shares in the four hotels by SSNIT is not a win because these hotels will continue to go to waste.

“I don’t know whether to say we’ve won because we’ve won nothing. If you go back there now, these assets are going to continue wasting. SSNIT will have to cough out GHC 1 million of workers’ money every year to pay light bills,” he said.
