Strange deer appears at Sefwi

The farming community of Sefwi Esaam in the Bia West District of the Western Region was thrown into a state of shock when a deer surprisingly appeared at the area’s town park to the amazement of some of the residents.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that some young people in the community were playing football on the park when the strange deer suddenly appeared on the field from nowhere.

Some people also indicated that the animal might have run from the bush far away.

Others also believed that the deer was running away after being chased by a hunter’s dog since the town was surrounded by rain forest.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the young guys, who were playing football at the time of the appearance of the animal, gave the deer a hot chase in an attempt to catch it.

A source at Sefwi Esaam told DAILY GUIDE that the deer, after realizing that its life was in danger, quickly run to the premises of Bia West District Assembly but it was eventually caught.

According to sources, some traditional leaders of the farming community later advised that the ear and the tail of the animal be cut.

The traditional leaders explained that the ritual had to be performed so that in case it was a god or spirit, its killing would not have any negative implication on those who caught it.

After that ritual was performed, the boys slaughtered the animal, prepared a light soup and shared the meat.
