Stray bullet hits one in road carnage protest by Adentan residents

Residents of the area are angry at government for negligence and non-chalance Residents of the area are angry at government for negligence and non-chalance

Residents in and around the Adentan Municipality in Accra went on a rampage on Thursday afternoon following the killing of a lady on the Madina-Adenta highway.

The residents burnt tyres and mounted blockades on the road to express their anger over the carnage, bringing all activities to a halt.

The situation, as narrated by our reporter on the ground Richard Bright Addo, seems to be going murkier by the minute as officers of the Ghana Fire Service were chased away by the angry protesters in their bid to douse the flames ignited by the protesters from the burning of the tyres.

Our reporter again said the police, who attempted intervening, fired warning shots to disperse the demonstrators and one person was hit in the leg by a bullet.

He added that police personnel, numbering about 50, could not overpower the mammoth crowd at the scene and have thus called for reinforcement.

Cars moving from Madina to Adenta and those from Dodowa and Aburi towards Madina have all had to change course because the highway has been taken over by the protesters.
