Stroke killed Aliu Mahama- Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has revealed that the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama died of a stroke after collapsing on a campaign platform in the Brong Ahafo Region a few weeks ago.
Speaking to Citi Fm in Accra, Mr. Kufuor further divulged that he only got to know about his illness three weeks ago, but never thought it was so “serious”.
“I never thought he was unwell till about three weeks ago when we learnt that he had collapsed during campaigning in Atebubu area…and after recovering news came in that he had collapsed again in the Northern Region and had been brought to Korle-Bu,” he added.
The former president added: “I visited only to learn that he had been stricken with a stroke from which he didn’t recover”.
Mr Kufuor therefore described Alhaji Aliu Mahama as a fine gentleman who dedicated his life to serve the nation.
“He was ready to serve and did not suffer from complexes. He worked very hard in government so it is a very big blow to me personally,” Mr. Kufuor sorrowfully submitted.
The former vice president was admitted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital a week before he passed away on Friday.
