A final year social science student of the University of Cape Coast, Adu-Gyamfi Prince, 23, was on Tuesday remanded in police custody for allegedly raping a 24-year- old student at Abura in Cape Coast.
His plea was not taken and he would re-appear on March 7.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Charles Anku told the court presided over by Mrs. Florence Kai Otu that in the first week of February the accused met and proposed love to the victim but she was indifferent.
He said since then they had been communicating on phone and the accused promised to teach the victim to pass her West African Senior Secondary School Examination.
Police chief Inspector Anku said on February 9 the accused visited the victim and aided her with her English and Economics assignment and stayed there until about 2200 hrs when the victim asked him to leave but he refused and grabbed the victim and sexually abused her in her room.
Chief Inspector Anku said the victim later informed her brother who lives at Abura and he in turn reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast and he was arrested.
