The Brong-Ahafo Students Union has honoured Mr Attah Godwin Andoh, the General Manager of Ark FM, a Sunyani-based local radio station, in recognition of his immense contribution to the growth of the union and development of education in the region.
Mr Andoh told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the honour had inspired and motivated him and other staff of the station to contribute immensely to the development of the region.
He emphasised the commitment of the radio station to showcase the numerous and diverse cultural heritages as well as the tourism attraction sites both locally and international to attract investors.
Mr Andoh reiterated the need for FM stations to concentrate on the positive issues that could spur economic transformation and avoid unnecessary political debates and negative reportage that could inflame passions.
“We serve as the voice of the voiceless in society and we must discharge our constitutional duties in a more decorous manner,” he said.
Mr Andoh stressed that neutrality, objectivity and accuracy remained the hallmark of the radio station.
The General Manager asked managers of radio stations to endeavour to engage qualified and professional staff.
