Students urged to reciprocate Government's gesture

Juaso, (Ash), Aug. 5, GNA - Students have been urged to study hard to justify the huge investment government has made in the educational sector. They have also been advised to desist from negative tendencies that could ruin their future and further deny the nation of the needed human resource for development.

Mr Abdul Karim Boakye -Yiadom, Asante Akim South District Chief Executive (DCE), who gave the advice, said the future of the nation largely depended on students hence government investment in education. The DCE was speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over two buses presented by the government to Juaso Senior High School (SHS) and Bompata Presbyterian Senior High School at Juaso on Thursday. The buses, which were purchased from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) were presented to the two schools that were among 34 others selected in the Asante Region.

According to the DCE, government had created an enabling environment for students to thrive with the introduction of various interventions, adding that, it was incumbent on them to take advantage of the gesture. He entreated students to strive for excellence in their pursuit for academic laurels, since the foundation had been laid for them to perform. Mr Samuel Agyapong, Headmaster of Bompata Presbyterian Senior High School on behalf of the two schools, expressed gratitude to government for the assistance. He said the buses would help address the transportation problem of the schools and promised that they would be properly maintained.
