Sunyani Hospital erects monuments in memory of three surgeons

Sunyani (B/A), March 13, GNA - Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister on Monday inspected three monuments erected by the authorities of the Sunyani Regional Hospital in memory of the three urologists who lost their lives through a motor accident on their way to Accra after an outreach programme in the Region last year. The monuments, estimated at 75 million cedis and erected at the forecourt of the Hospital, are in memory of the late Professor John Kwateboi Marmon Quartey, founder of the anatomy department of the University of Ghana Medical School, Dr Isaac Bentsi, Consultant urologist and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe, specialist urologist. Nana Seinti expressed his appreciation for the Hospital's concern for the efforts of the late specialists and gave the assurance that the Regional

Coordinating Council would help the hospital to commission the project. He noted that the late urologists were imbued with a sense of nationalism, stressing the need for other health personnel to see them as role models to promote quality health delivery in the country. Alhaji Dr Mohammed Bin Ibrahim, Regional Director of Health Services announced plans by the Hospital to contact the relatives of the late medical specialists and the administrative department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to fix an appropriate date for the commissioning of the monuments. Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, Omanhene of Sunyani, Mr F O Boateng, Regional Coordinating Director and Dr Samuel Dogbey, Medical Superintendent of the Sunyani Municipal Hospital accompanied the Regional Minister during the inspection. Meanwhile a-13-member-committee chaired by Dr Albert Amankwaa, Medical Officer in charge of the Hospital, has been set up to oversee preparations towards the commissioning.
