Sunyani KNUST campus holds matriculation

Sunyani, Sept. 23, GNA - The Sunyani Campus of the Faculty of Resource Technology of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday held a matriculation ceremony to admit 124 students to pursue diploma and degree programmes in forest technology.

Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice Chancellor of the KNUST appealed to the students to use all channels available to resolve any academic problems facing them in school.

He advised them against indulging in examination malpractices, saying that could lead to their dismissal from the university. Prof. Andam urged the new students to remain focused and disciplined so they could build a prosperous future for themselves. He said the University was building the science and technology capacity of Ghana by strategically aiming at a future population of 40,000 students before 2014.

On the attainment of this target, the University expects to graduate 10,000 scientists and technologists yearly, he projected. The Vice Chancellor said the University had established and restructured six new colleges in a way that any one of them could grow into a fully-fledged university. The colleges are Agriculture and Natural Resource, Architecture and Planning, Art and Social Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Sciences.
